    Clearleft we know we have a responsibility to the industry to help redress the gender balance, and that means putting together diverse line-ups at our conferences. This is much easier said than done, but difficult doesn’t mean impossible.

    I’m presenting Wireframing in a Web 2.0 World with James Box at South by Southwest, with a warm-up Skillswap in Brighton next week. I’m also involved with Singularity, an online conference to be held in October.

  • CSS and Ajax Workshops

    Clearleft is doing a couple of public workshops at the end of January, here in Brighton. Andy Budd and Jeremy Keith will be training folk on CSS Mastery and Bulletproof Ajax respectively. Also check out Web Directions North conference.

    It’s still August and SxSW is already appearing over the horizon. You can buy tickets now, but the big news is that this year’s panel picker is now live. Also, we’ve got sage advice for getting the most out of dConstruct 2007.

  • Hackday London

    Hackday London was fantastic. Andy Hume and I designed and developed a hack by way of a web app called Get Us Organised. It proved quite popular.

    The media conference this year was as good as ever. Even the queues for coffee and food were quicker this year. I’ve jotted down a few titbits gleaned from the sessions I attended.

    I’ve just come back from holiday, and the Clearleft office is a-buzz with early preparations for this year’s dConstruct conference.

    FOWD last wednesday was an enjoyable affair. I didn’t get a huge amount out of the conference itself, but there was some good stuff and I culled a few good links along the way.

    It’s Sunday and it finally feels like I’ve caught up sleep and got over jet lag, thus enabling me to attempt a personal wrap up of my South by Southwest.

    So Mark and I gave our presentation yesterday at South by Southwest. The slides and some references are online, along with a recording of the session and its transcription.

  • Talking type at SxSW

    First thing on Tuesday morning, I’ll be presenting Web Typography Sucks with the venerable Mark Boulton. Also that day is Helvetica the Movie. And on Saturday there’s the Great British Booze-up.

    This year, SxSW Interactive is enabling attendees to vote for panels to be featured in the conference. I’m hoping to present a talk with Mark Boulton called Web Typography Sucks. The Panel Proposal Picker Round Two is now live, so get your votes in!

    The d.Construct conference in Brighton is approaching rapidly (don’t I just know it; so much to do, so little time) and many attendees are coming down on the Thursday. As such, attendees are looking for places and people to meet on Thursday evening.
