Since I knackered my Achilles tendon in December, I’ve been getting back into cycling and mountain biking in particular. The Brighton Big Dog race is on in August and uses the same tracks I now ride most weeks. We’ve entered a Clearleft team.

Dunwich Dynamo
I’m tired; stiff and tired. Over Saturday night and into Sunday morning, I joined friends on the Dunwich Dynamo, a 120 mile night ride from Hackney to Dunwich on the Suffolk coast. It was to be the longest ride any of us had cycled in one day.
JOGLE Day 07 – Carlisle to Preston
Day 7 of our ride from John o’Groats to Land’s End took us over Shap fell (at 420m) through the Lake District to Preston.
Col de Joux Plane
While we were in the Alps we decided to do a Tour de France climb. Not just any climb, but the Col de Joux Plane – an hors categorie ascent gaining 3,500ft over 8.5 miles from Samoëns to the summit. The Col is so notorious, it even has its own website. The climb…

A fantastic summer ride. And Kevin Spacey on a bridleway.

Le Tour de France en Angleterre
I am ridiculously excited about this coming weekend. It is this weekend that the Tour de France visits England for the first time since 1994, and only the third time in its history. Get out and see it!

JOGLE Day 04 – Fort William to Inveraray
Day 4 of our ride from John o’Groats to Land’s End. A glorious, mostly flat ride from Fort William to Inveraray.
JOGLE Day 05 – Inveraray to Kilmarnock
Day 5 of our ride from John o’Groats to Land’s End. A wet but scenic start, eventually leading to crappy roads in and around Kilmarnock.
JOGLE Day 11 – Tiverton to Liskeard
Day 11 of our ride from John o’Groats to Land’s End took us from Tiverton to Liskeard across Dartmoor. Very wet, very hilly. Proper hard ride despite being ‘only’ 100km. A lot of fun.
Scattered notes from Dots
The inaugural Dots conference provided a very enjoyable day on the loose subject of innovation. I was in a mood to listen rather than take notes but I did jot down a few bits and bobs. Here they are made into some sentences.
