Mo & Rob’s Drive Inne

An old English pub covered in plastic sheeting with a painted hoarding across it's front depicting a car crashed through the wall

Having stood since the 14th Century, Ye Olde Smugglers Inne (formerly the Market Inn) was the victim of a hit and run crash in the early hours of 14th July 2004.

Amazingly Maureen Scott, Landlady of 27 years, and her husband Rob, slept through the incident – to be woken by firemen and police!

As shown the damage was extensive & restoration could take 6 months.

So says the hoarding of Ye Olde Smugglers Inne in the ancient village of Alfriston, East Sussex. One has to admire the Scotts for their sense of humour and resilience in the face of juvenile delinquency.

I’ve slept through some things in my time, but that takes the cake! I hope they caught the buggers who crashed into it. That type of thing really annoys me.
