Jamie Oliver is Cool

Love him or hate him, I thought I’d mention our very own Jamie Oliver in response to Dan’s post about American TV chef, Alton Brown. The Essex geezer has been blogging in a manner of speaking for a few years, but recently got himself a brand new site which looks good with CSS layout and XHTML Strict (note to the developers: it no longer validates).

Jamie posts reasonably regularly on refreshingly human topics (he has permalinks): his new office, tabloid denials, baby’s first words. He also has a moblog which he uses quite bit (lots of photos from a recent trip to Iceland) and heaps of RSS feeds including the diary, moblog and recipes. Your producer and developers have done you proud, my son, and kudos for keeping the posts coming.

Very cool. I like Jamie’s shows as well, so I’ll certainly check out his blog. We need to get Alton Brown up to snuff on standards, RSS, permalinks, etc. Oh, and if Emeril has a blog… I don’t know that I’d read it. :-)

I’m really glad others like Jamie too. I think he got over-exposed, and a backlash was started against him. Shame, his recipes are great (particularly his idea of an english breakfast). Most of all, his willingness to give up time, skills and his own money to help young people become chefs (even when some of them couldn’t give a toss!) shows what a decent bloke he is.

Nope, sorry, I’d still like to give him a slap.

By the way, Dr Usability, I can’t seem to use my arrow keys in this comments box. If you’re bothered :o)

Yes I do care, AntiJamie (please). Can’t think of a single reason why your arrows keys aren’t working though.

Jamie Oliver’s Shows are pretty interesting, but he is quite unhygienic. He puts his finger in what ever he’s cooking, licks it, then put’s it back in again! Thats so disgusting!! It would be alright if the food was just for him, but he serves it to other people, gross!!
And what the hell is up with him and the word “literally”?? He says it in every single episode of Oliver’s twist, it gets really irritating after a while. And when he talks he sounds like hes spitting!!

Plenty of comments have been left, just not on this old post. See the home page for what’s been going on more recently.

Melisande – I didn’t ‘copy’ your comment, I quoted it, as you would do in an email, so no, I wasn’t trying to be funny. Quoting comments in this manner is a common method of providing context when commenting on a comment.
