Clagnut

New MySQL.com

Anyone care to deconstruct the redesign of MySQL.com? Here’s a few starters.

  • There’s a new Developer Zone which seems to be better organised with clearer downloads, a more editorial feel and a happy person of indeterminate gender wishing me peace.
  • The global nav has gained some more elegant tabs, a sub-navigation and some subtle drop shadows.
  • The whole site is still nicely liquid but now recoded with CSS layout and meaningful mark-up. Good job.

First impressions are that it’s a little less geeky and a little more friendly. Which is nice.

There’s a bug with the “online shop” tab overlaping the “mySQL Worldwide” pull-down menu.
